As you may already know, the Chinese calendar is based on the phases of the moon. and when a new year begins, it brings with it one of the 12 Chinese zodiac. Every 12 years, the sequence begins again. This year (2018) for example, is the Year of the Dog which will not come around again until 2030. When the animal you were born under comes around again, it becomes an important year when you might consider getting married, buying a house or starting a business. The Chinese zodiac is also important when being compatible with a lover, or considering whether you should have a child. The year you were born in will affect your future and many future parents will consider dates before trying for a baby if the current year is not a positive one<\/a>.<\/p>\n There are many interesting myths relating to the 12 zodiac and where they came from, my favourite being the race between the animals, which gives us the order of the zodiac.<\/p>\n This is the story of the Chinese Zodiac \u751f\u8096<\/a> (sh\u0113ng xi\u00e0o) and how the order came to be.<\/p>\n \u7389\u7687\u5927\u5e1d\u8fc7\u751f\u65e5\uff0c\u4e0b\u4ee4\u8ba9\u6240\u6709\u7684\u52a8\u7269\u524d\u6765\u795d\u5bff\uff0c\u540c\u65f6\u51b3\u5b9a\u6309\u524d\u6765\u62a5\u5230\u987a\u5e8f\u9009\u5b9a\u5341\u4e8c\u751f\u8096\u7684\u6392\u540d\uff0c\u7b2c\u4e00\u4e2a\u5230\u8fbe\u5929\u5bab\u95e8\u53e3\u7684\u6392\u7b2c\u4e00\u4e2a\uff0c\u7b2c\u4e8c\u4e2a\u5230\u8fbe\u7684\u6392\u7b2c\u4e8c\u4e2a\uff0c\u4ee5\u6b64\u7c7b\u63a8<\/a>\u3002<\/p>\n (y\u00f9 hu\u00e1ng d\u00e0 d\u00ec gu\u00f2 sh\u0113ng r\u00ec, xi\u00e0 l\u00ecng r\u00e0ng su\u01d2 y\u01d2u de d\u00f2ng w\u00f9 qi\u00e1n l\u00e1i zh\u00f9 sh\u00f2u, t\u00f3ng sh\u00ed ju\u00e9 d\u00ecng \u00e0n qi\u00e1n l\u00e1i b\u00e0o d\u00e0o sh\u00f9n x\u00f9 xu\u01cen d\u00ecng sh\u00ed \u00e8r sh\u0113ng xi\u00e0o de p\u00e1i m\u00edng, d\u00ec y\u012b g\u00e8 d\u00e0o d\u00e1 ti\u0101n g\u014dng m\u00e9n k\u01d2u de p\u00e1i d\u00ec y\u012b g\u00e8, d\u00ec \u00e8r g\u00e8 d\u00e0o d\u00e1 de p\u00e1i d\u00ec \u00e8r g\u00e8, y\u01d0 c\u01d0 l\u00e8i tu\u012b.)<\/p>\n The Jade Emperor \u7389\u7687<\/a> (y\u00f9 hu\u00e1ng) wanted to celebrate his birthday (Chinese New Year) by designating the 12 signs of the zodiac. He told all the animals on earth that whoever reached the Gates of Heaven the fastest would be the first zodiac, then whoever got there second would be next in the zodiac and so on.<\/p>\n \u6240\u6709\u7684\u52a8\u7269\u90fd\u9700\u8981\u8de8\u8fc7\u4e00\u6761\u6cb3\u624d\u80fd\u62b5\u8fbe\u5929\u5bab\u5927\u95e8<\/a>\u3002<\/p>\n (su\u01d2 y\u01d2u de d\u00f2ng w\u00f9 d\u014du good friends and set off together in an attempt to win the race.<\/p>\n d\u00e0i t\u0101 men gu\u00f2 h\u00e9.)<\/p>\n They found the Ox already making good progress across the river, and after jumping on his back asked him to take him across the river.<\/p>\n y\u00ec le b\u00e8i t\u0101 men gu\u00f2 h\u00e9.)<\/p>\n The Ox was extremely good-natured and allowed them to ride on his back.<\/p>\n \u9f20\u5e74<\/a> (sh\u01d4 ni\u00e1n).<\/p>\n The Year of the Ox \u725b\u5e74<\/a> (ni\u00fa ni\u00e1n) became the second zodiac. struggled against a current to cross the river, and pleased the Emperor greatly.<\/p>\n to stone in order to cross the river.<\/p>\n had wings, was he fifth in the race?<\/p>\n \u5584\u826f\u7684\u9f99\u89e3\u91ca\u5230\u4ed6\u9700\u8981\u5148\u53bb\u964d\u96e8\u4e3a\u5176\u5b83\u52a8\u7269\u63d0\u4f9b\u8d56\u4ee5\u751f\u5b58\u7684\u996e\u6c34<\/a>\u3002<\/p>\n (sh\u00e0n snake unravelled himself from the horse’s leg and, scaring the horse, make his way to the gate and the Emperor proclaimed the sixth zodiac, Year of the Snake \u86c7\u5e74<\/a> (sh\u00e9 ni\u00e1n), followed by the seventh zodiac, the Year of the Horse \u9a6c\u5e74<\/a> (m\u01ce ni\u00e1n).<\/p>\n
