When emotions are suppressed or inhibited this can cause disease or serious physical complaints. By \u2018balancing\u2019 the organ associated with that emotion, the emotion will also rebalance. Just use the following pattern:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Subject + <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/worddetail\/pa\/5635\/1\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u6015<\/a><\/span>&nbsp;(p\u00e0)&nbsp;+ thing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/#sk=%E6%88%91%E6%80%95%E8%80%81%E9%BC%A0&amp;svt=pinyin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u6211\u6015\u8001\u9f20<\/a><\/span>\u3002(w\u01d2 p\u00e0 l\u01ceo&nbsp;sh\u01d4)&nbsp;I\u2019m afraid of mice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/#sk=%E4%BB%96%E6%80%95%E8%83%96&amp;svt=pinyin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u4ed6\u6015\u80d6<\/a><\/span>\u3002(t\u0101 p\u00e0 p\u00e0ng) &nbsp;He is afraid of putting on weight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To tell someone not to be afraid use:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/#sk=%E5%88%AB%E6%80%95&amp;svt=pinyin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u522b\u6015<\/a><\/span>\uff01(bi\u00e9 p\u00e0)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/#sk=%E4%B8%8D%E8%A6%81%E6%80%95&amp;svt=pinyin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u4e0d\u8981\u6015<\/a><\/span>\uff01(b\u00f9&nbsp;y\u00e0o p\u00e0)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both phrases can be used to mean \u2018Don\u2019t be afraid\u2019 and can also be used in a sentence:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/#sk=%E4%BD%A0%E4%B8%8D%E8%A6%81%E6%80%95%E6%88%91%E7%9A%84%E7%8B%97&amp;svt=pinyin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u4f60\u4e0d\u8981\u6015\u6211\u7684\u72d7<\/a><\/span>\u3002(n\u01d0 b\u00f9&nbsp;y\u00e0o p\u00e0 w\u01d2&nbsp;de g\u01d2u)&nbsp;Don\u2019t be afraid of my dog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several other common phrases that can be used, depending on the degree of fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/#sk=%E6%88%91%E6%80%95%E6%AD%BB%E4%BA%86&amp;svt=pinyin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u6211\u6015\u6b7b\u4e86<\/a><\/span>\u3002(w\u01d2 p\u00e0 s\u01d0 le)&nbsp;I am scared to death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018\u6b7b\u4e86\u2019 (s\u01d0 le)&nbsp;is often used with a verb to describe being affected to the extreme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/#sk=%E7%B4%AF%E6%AD%BB%E4%BA%86&amp;svt=pinyin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u7d2f\u6b7b\u4e86<\/a><\/span>&nbsp;(l\u00e8i s\u01d0 le)&nbsp;Exhausted or literally \u2018tired to death\u2019 and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/#sk=%E9%A5%BF%E6%AD%BB%E4%BA%86&amp;svt=pinyin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u997f\u6b7b\u4e86<\/a><\/span>&nbsp;(\u00e8&nbsp;s\u01d0 le) which means starving. My personal favourite is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/#sk=%E6%AD%BB%E4%BA%86&amp;svt=pinyin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u70e6\u6b7b\u4e86<\/a><\/span>(f\u00e1n&nbsp;s\u01d0&nbsp;le) meaning \u2018to annoy to death\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/#sk=%E6%88%91%E5%AE%B3%E6%80%95&amp;svt=pinyin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u6211\u5bb3\u6015<\/a><\/span>\uff01(w\u01d2 h\u00e0i&nbsp;p\u00e0)&nbsp;I\u2019m afraid!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/worddetail\/kongju\/2531\/3\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u6050\u60e7<\/a><\/span>&nbsp;(k\u01d2ng&nbsp;j\u00f9)&nbsp;means \u2018to be terrified\u2019 and is most frequently seen in formal literature rather than in spoken Chinese. It can also be used a noun to mean \u2018terror\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interestingly, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/worddetail\/kongju\/2531\/3\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u6050\u60e7<\/a><\/span>&nbsp;(k\u01d2ng&nbsp;j\u00f9) is often used to produce a \u2018phobia\u2019, for example, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/#sk=%E5%B9%BD%E9%97%AD%E6%81%90%E6%83%A7&amp;svt=pinyin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u5e7d\u95ed\u6050\u60e7<\/a><\/span>&nbsp;(y\u014du&nbsp;b\u00ec&nbsp;k\u01d2ng j\u00f9) is claustrophobia, the fear or confined spaces, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/#sk=%E5%B9%BF%E5%9C%BA%E6%81%90%E6%83%A7&amp;svt=pinyin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u5e7f\u573a\u6050\u60e7<\/a><\/span>&nbsp;(gu\u01ceng&nbsp;ch\u01ceng k\u01d2ng&nbsp;j\u00f9) is agoraphobia, the fear of crowded public places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/#sk=%E6%81%90%E6%83%A7%E6%9D%A5%E6%BA%90%E4%BA%8E%E6%9C%AA%E7%9F%A5&amp;svt=pinyin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u6050\u60e7\u6765\u6e90\u4e8e\u672a\u77e5<\/a><\/span>\u3002(k\u01d2ng&nbsp;j\u00f9 l\u00e1i yu\u00e1n&nbsp;y\u00fa w\u00e8i&nbsp;zh\u012b)&nbsp;Fear comes from the unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If something is scary, such as a movie or activity, use the bigram<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/worddetail\/kepa\/1742\/3\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u53ef\u6015<\/a><\/span>&nbsp;(k\u011b&nbsp;p\u00e0)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/#sk=%E8%BF%99%E9%83%A8%E7%94%B5%E5%BD%B1%E5%A5%BD%E5%8F%AF%E6%80%95&amp;svt=pinyin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u8fd9\u90e8\u7535\u5f71\u597d\u53ef\u6015<\/a><\/span>\u3002&nbsp;(zh\u00e8 b\u00f9 di\u00e0n&nbsp;y\u01d0ng h\u01ceo k\u011b&nbsp;p\u00e0)&nbsp;This movie is really scary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To describe a thing as being scary, use:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/#sk=%E6%81%90%E6%80%96%E7%9A%84&amp;svt=pinyin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u6050\u6016\u7684<\/a><\/span>&nbsp;(k\u01d2ng&nbsp;b\u00f9 de)&nbsp;+ noun<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/#sk=%E6%81%90%E6%80%96%E7%9A%84%E6%88%BF%E5%AD%90&amp;svt=pinyin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u6050\u6016\u7684\u623f\u5b50<\/a><\/span>.
