This is a super skinny modification of \u5fc3 (x\u012bn) and is called <a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/#sk=%E7%AB%96%E5%BF%83%E6%97%81&amp;svt=pinyin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u7ad6\u5fc3\u65c1<\/a> (sh\u00f9 x\u012bn p\u00e1ng).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The radical of \u5fc3 (x\u012bn) is often present in characters relating to emotions, thoughts and other \u2018heart\u2019 related words. However, the character \u76f8 (xi\u00e0ng) depicts a tree (<a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/worddetail\/mu\/5956\/1\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u6728<\/a> &#8211; m\u00f9) and an eye (<a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/worddetail\/mu\/2091\/1\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u76ee<\/a>&#8211; m\u00f9) suggesting the need to look and check for danger. The top half of our character is probably familiar to those of you who read our previous article on&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.writtenchinese.com\/the-female-radical\/\">\u5973\u5b57\u65c1\uff1aThe Female Radical<\/a>, as this is <a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/worddetail\/nu\/10610\/1\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u5974<\/a> (n\u00fa) meaning slave. The quite direct meaning of this character is not to be a slave to your heart and allow your anger to control you\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/worddetail\/nuqi\/6857\/3\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u6012\u6c14<\/a> (n\u00f9 q\u00ec) anger<br><a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/worddetail\/chunu\/19189\/3\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u89e6\u6012<\/a> (ch\u00f9 n\u00f9) provocation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This example sentence also contains the bigram <a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/#sk=%E6%84%9F%E5%88%B0&amp;svt=pinyin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u611f\u5230<\/a> (g\u01cen&nbsp;d\u00e0o) that contains &#8216;\u5fc3\u5b57\u5e95&#8217; (x\u012bn z\u00ec de), meaning to have a feeling or sense about something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.writtenchinese.com\/#sk=%E4%BB%96%E5%AF%B9%E5%A5%B9%E7%9A%84%E5%81%9A%E4%BA%8B%E6%96%B9%E5%BC%8F%E6%84%9F%E5%88%B0%E5%BE%88%E6%84%A4%E6%80%92%E3%80%82&amp;svt=pinyin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u4ed6\u5bf9\u5979\u7684\u505a\u4e8b\u65b9\u5f0f\u611f\u5230\u5f88\u6124\u6012\u3002<\/a>(t\u0101 du\u00ec t\u0101 de zu\u00f2&nbsp;sh\u00ec f\u0101ng&nbsp;sh\u00ec g\u01cen&nbsp;d\u00e0o h\u011bn f\u00e8n&nbsp;n\u00f9.)
